An inspiration by a Worm by Ikram Sabri

How can you believe me that, I am about to tell you, I was inspired by the life of a struggled worm early this morning. It may sound ridiculous by the time you read the title but yeah it is going to be a story about worm and something related to life. People might think differently on how they perceive incredible things in life, they happen beyond our brains' ability to expect. Our mind is limited, while the whole universe is limitless. Praise the Lord the Almighty God.

“Shallow minded people, they putting barbed wires around them, we scared to step out from the social conformity. Thus, it leads us to not to think the unbelievable.”

We are quite familiar with the phrase of, 'never judge a book by its cover'. Little things we see, we have unseen, and we always doubt their capabilities just because they are tiny in terms of size. Wow, powerful indeed the way we think we are, but how certain are you that is the question. Ask yourselves, have you not thought that way or behaved negatively before. We have become so arrogant, proud with the power we have, with our abilities but we forgot, God has made us equally, every little thing has its own uniqueness; none of them ought to be denied of what can they do. Thus, we are just powerless as we think consciously.

Belittle them, degrade them, we even feel disgust to those who have contributed to the world more than we do. I have witnessed the struggle of a worm to live. I myself did not expect of what could the little worm be able to do. I am indeed a powerless human being who is not able to see the world thoroughly but I have started changing my perspective of view. When you started to get life as a real thing, you will be more appreciative to the smallest thing you have. Age is indeed just a number, but maturity is not measured by how old you are but the way you use your mind cognitively and act like a real adult. These things taught me to be more aware of what in this world has other than us. How selfish we have become all this while, we close our eyes to the conflict, violence, and cruelty we have seen on the tabloid and simply ignore them. We deafen our ears not to hear their begging for help, we shut our mouth not to tell the truth to the world, as we are scared of losing our dignity and so-called big names in the world. This is rubbish; we are actually falling to the deepest dungeon of our own failure of being a human being. How powerless we are to even do something good to the world.

We are drowning in the ocean of ethnocentrism. Fooled by our own act, assuming that we are better than other thing because God has given us brain to think. How much is the percentage of our brain has been used? To be compared, with them animals and small creature, who have done more damages on earth instead of contribute good things? Less we do than them, the worm has more functions though. It helps fertilize soil for the land based food and more. Wake up, our greediness are killing them in the same time our inner selves. As the worm moved ascent between the tiles on the wall, it has stopped me, caught my attention and I was not able to move, I have been enchanted by the struggle of that worm by its ability to move upwards. How can you believe it, a long, slender, soft-bodied, legless, but yet it so inspiring, praise the Lord for His wonderful creation. This little thing can live for another hundred years, if it can survive under the ground why is not possible for it to live above the ground? When so many of us complain about so many things in life, but never once appreciate what God has given us all this while. How disgrace, ungrateful we have been for not even think the life we have. Sad, really sad with the society we have now.

Make those little things around you inspire you, and do the same thing with people around you. Get inspiration from other people, start appreciate whatever you have around you. Help those in need, never be afraid of helping other people because you think it would not brings you any benefit. God is fair, you help other, and God helps you more. It isn’t hard.
